The mission of the Campus Budget Office is to create and support an environment that advances UC Merced’s institutional mission of achieving distinction in education, research and public service. The Campus Budget Office is committed to bringing rigor to budgetary decision making and transparency to the budgetary process. Accordingly, in conjunction with senior management, academic schools and all support units, the Campus Budget Office guides the effective deployment of resources and promotes sound resource management in the strategic support of the university’s tripartite mission. The Campus Budget Office’s scope of responsibility ranges from daily operations to short-term and long-range planning for campus budgets as well as:

  • Managing the campus permanent budget;
  • Providing decision makers with accurate, timely and meaningful budget and financial;
  • Providing decision support through cost-benefit analysis, data reporting, analyzing and forecasting;
  • Providing professional advice to departments in support of resource decisionmaking;
  • Recommending budget strategies to executive management in regard to efficient allocation and administration of campus resources;
  • Guiding the annual budgetary process, assessing ongoing budget and planning issues, and establishing and monitoring controls for proper fund use and fund management;
  • Developing policies and procedures for the effective management of campus resources; and
  • Ensuring that campus budgetary policy and practice conform to federal, state and university regulations.
